What are nematodes?
Nematodes are a microscopic worms which are produced using large scale bioreactors. Nematodes naturally occur in your soil but increasing the levels will help you deal with each specific pest.
How do nematodes work?
The nematodes work they way around the soil and penetrate the pest through natural openings. They inject a bacteria which stops the pest from feeding and causing them to quickly and safely die.
How quickly should I start to see a difference?
Most nematodes will take 2-4 weeks to start to notice a significant difference.
Do any nematodes treat snails?
No, no nematode is proven to be effective against snails.
When can I apply the nematodes?
Each nematode has an optimum time to apply. If you view the details on the nematode product page it will tell you exactly when to treat your garden.
How long do they last?
Nematodes are a live product so have an expiry date of around 3-4 weeks when we receive them. This means you will usually have around 2-3 weeks once you get your order. If you don't use them straight away you need to put them in your fridge. Once applied, nematodes will last in your soil for around 6 weeks. It's common for customers to do multiple applications through the growing season but check the product page for more information because each nematode is different.
Are nematodes organic?
Yes, nematodes are completely organic.
How do you apply nematodes?
They are mixed with water and usually applied with a watering can. However if you have a large area you can purchase our nematode applicator to speed up the application process. Full instructions are provided with each order.
How do I know which nematode to buy?
